About Larry - Candidate Profile

On May 2nd, Durham County voters will decide the direction of our future, when you elect the candidate seeking to represent Durham in the District 29 of the N.C. State House of Representatives. Larry D. Hall, Durham’s native son, is your candidate. The 29th N.C. House District is ---boundaries----. Larry is a father, a leader, (a counselor), a mentor, an advocate, and a businessman.

Larry received is general education in Durham’s public school system. With that foundation, he went on to attend North Carolina Central University and Johnson C. Smith where he received his degree with a double major in Political Science and Business. Larry continued his education by attending law school at UNC Chapel Hill, where he earned a Juris Doctor and began advocating on behalf of the citizens of our community.

In addition to Larry’s focus on education, he also served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a “Commissioned” Infantry Officer. Larry continued his service in the Marine Reserves until 1998.

A LEADER

For more than 20 years, Larry has demonstrated his leadership in the community through the various Boards and Commission for which he has been selected to serve. In many cases, Larry has been elected and/or appointed the Chairperson by the organization to ensure the organizations goals and objectives are met.

A COUNSELOR

Through his many years of service to our country and the citizens of Durham, Larry has provided advice to business leaders, civic organizations, nonprofit community groups and at risk individuals. Larry spent many years providing no cost counseling to indigent clients with Legal Aid.

A MENTOR

Larry has seen first hand what it means to our youth to have someone there who is willing to listen to them, to help and support their ideas, their goals, and their vision. He also understands that a few hours per week, can make a world a difference for a troubled youth. Larry volunteers his time to mentor our children and youth through various programs like Rites of Passage and Durham’s Companion Youth Mentoring Program and currently Young Marines. Through these organizations, Larry has volunteered his time to lead efforts on behalf of the organization and support its youth.

AN ADVOCATE

Upon receiving his law degree, Larry has served the Durham community through his advocacy on behalf of its citizens and small businesses. Larry worked with the legislature and members of our legislative delegation on issues such as Pay Day Lending, the Death Penalty moratorium.

A BUSINESSMAN

Larry’s business experience establishing and running his own law practice will benefit him in the state legislature to ensure that the interest of the citizens of Durham County.
